A former Chicago police officer's trial has been pushed back because he has prostate cancer.
In the 1980s and early 90s, Jon Burge worked out of an area of the police force that's now synonymous with torture. People like Alton Logan and Cortez Brown were arrested and interrogated under Burge's command. They spent decades in prison, only to be freed later. Both accuse Burge of torture while in custody.
U.S. attorneys arrested Burge last year, accusing him of perjury. They say he lied about knowing officers tortured suspects to get confessions.
His trial was scheduled for January, but Burge's attorneys say he now has radiation treatments for his cancer scheduled for that time. The judge pushed the trial back to May. Burge has pleaded not guilty.

Unfortunately, it looks like Burge will get away with his crimes. He has successfully delayed his trial time after time. His crimes will remain a stain upon the CPD
