No band in Chicago can play West African dance music like The Occidental Brothers Dance Band International. Guitarist Nathaniel Braddock is a keen student of African gutiar styles and saxophonist Greg Ward's searing soulful sax lines compliment trumpeter Kofi Cromwell's horn attacks. The band holds true to the West African styles of soukous and rumba; undiluted. The OBDBI gets a chance to turn on the Pitchfork Music Festival crowd to their sound this weekend. Tonight, The OBDBI is From the Stage in a performance from last year's SummerDance. Also, Chicago Reader music writer Peter Margasak stops by for the monthly New Sounds. This month, along with Peter's Brazilian pick, there are  sounds from India and Columbia.
