Tlahoun Gessesse was known as "The Voice" and the King of Ethiopian Pop. His searing tenor caught the attention of Emperor Haile Selassie early in his careeer and went on to enjoy great popularity and a loyal audience throughout his decades long career. Gessesse died on April 16th and was given a state funeral in his homeland.
