Farmers markets

Shoppers going to market will find more than seasonal produce this year. Many markets in the city and suburbs plan to offer live entertainment, artist booths and activities for children.

The 2023 WBEZ guide to summer farmers markets in Chicago and the suburbs

Now updated for 2024! Chicago farmers markets 2024: A guide for city and suburbs.

For many Chicagoans, the best time of year is upon us: Farmers market season. Some markets open in mid-May, while others wait until June. Here’s a list of 90-plus markets in the city and suburbs, organized by day of the week and region. Each listing includes the market’s hours of operation, location and any extras, such as live music and on-site food trucks. A dog emoji next to the name of a market means pets are welcome.

USE THIS MAP: To find a market near you, use this searchable, zoomable map!

(The 2023 guide updates a project that originally ran in 2022 and was reported by Kerry Cardoza and produced by Charmaine Runes.)
