This week, Curious City is featuring an episode of The Promise, a podcast produced by reporter Meribah Knight.

The Promise is a limited-run series from Nashville Public Radio about life in the James Cayce Homes, a public housing complex located near downtown Nashville. These are stories of a neighborhood in flux, a community defined by its struggles, and the growing divide threatening its very existence.

Although the podcast is set in Nashville, the topics the podcast addresses are all things we’ve covered in Chicago: gentrification, affordable housing, violence, tensions between communities, and police.

We’re sharing an episode called “A Beautiful Day in the Projects.”

A quick warning: The episode contains some vulgar language as well as some vivid descriptions of gun violence.
