New Steppenwolf Play Exposes Societal Barriers To Power For Black Women

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s latest virtual show Duchess! Duchess! Duchess! explores how institutions of power impact Black women, particularly when those institutions were not built for them to succeed. The play is loosely inspired by the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s experience with the British royal family.

Reset hears from the production’s playwright and director on the vision behind the project and what they hope to accomplish with the show.

GUESTS: Vivian J.O. Barnes, playwright
