Chicago’s top cop quits a day after Lightfoot loses reelection bid

David Brown was appointed superintendent of the Chicago Police Department less than three years ago.

Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown resigned his post as the city’s top cop Wednesday. The news comes just a day after incumbent Mayor Lori Lightfoot lost her bid for reelection, and all other mayoral candidates said they would fire Brown if elected.
