Here’s something that could affect your paycheck if you live in the suburbs and work in Chicago. Chicago mayoral candidate Bill Daley recently brought up the idea of a commuter tax during a speech at the City Club of Chicago as one way to raise much needed revenue to help solve the city's pension crisis.He also mentioned marijuana sales, a casino and a real estate transfer tax as other possible revenue streams.

David Merriman is a professor in the Department of Public Administration at UIC. He broke down the various types of taxation Chicago’s next mayor could consider to raise revenue.
