Prominent pro-independence and pro-democracy activists including the secretary-general of Demosistos Joshua Wong were arrested in Hong Kong over the past day as several month-old protests against the controversial Extradition Bill continue. Wong was since released on bail. Chinese troops also rotated into Hong Kong and the neighboring Chinese city of Shenzhen, sparking fears that a military crackdown on the protests is brewing.
